Sea Cucumber has been eaten for hundreds of years due to its high nutritional value. The sea cucumber is a major component used in traditional Chinese medicine.

Atlantic sea cucumber(Cucumaria frondosa)is rich in sulfated polysaccharides, proteins, polypeptides, essential fatty acids, minerals, vitamins and other valuable nutrients and bioactive ingredients. It has the health care functions of anti-oxidation,  immune regulation and so on.

Nutritional analysis has shown that there were 66g protein (active amino acid), 10 g mucopolysaccharide, 3.2 g sea cucumber saponin, 2 g unsaturated fatty acid (including 1.36 g Omega 3 & 6) and large amounts of vitamins and minerals per 100 g dry weight of sea cucumber. Studies have shown that some of the components mentioned are found in Atlantic sea cucumber at quantities higher than other sea cucumber varieties.
